New Season, New Style, New Love.

With the publication of the September issue of Vogue, (be still our beating hearts!) and the heralding in of a new season in the fashion industry, changes are always seen and made to be noticed.
This season designers such as Miuccia Prada and Jean Paul Gaultier have taken inspiration from decades past and reinterpreted styles to give them a modern twist. Elsewhere at and Dolce and Gabbana we see more boyish pieces emerge. Finally we move on to fashion houses such as Gucci where the collections were as bright as a million sparkling jewels.
Needless to say with a new season comes new designers and the reawakening of others.
The return of Tom Ford to womenswear has been praised and welcomed by all. A few days ago I finally got to see the actual pieces and took the below picture. (Sorry about the plant!) I think we could all agree that the pieces are even more stunning when seen up close, rather than just being viewed on a computer screen.
Another designer to wow the industry this season was Mary Katrantzou (above), who took many a breath away with her bright bold prints and  beautifully structured dresses. Although these prints may seem intimidating they look amazing when worn. If you're like me and pretty much every dress is lightyears out of your price range, I suggest you sneak one into the dressing room and try it on the first chance you get (just be careful not to damage it in any way or it will cost you an amount you will not be willing to part with).

I urge anyone who loves fashion to run to the nearest store now, even if it is just to gaze upon the magnificence of the Autumn/Winter collections.

Science and Fashion

During the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 1999 collection, art and science worked harmoniously.
This video shows how (Lee) Alexander McQueen was able to incorporate both those elements and still create something beautiful and individual. His S/S 1999 fashion show/performance art piece went on to become one of his most famous shows to date, and helped to define him as an artist and designer with a unique vision.

Magic

Experience the magic that is the Danish singer-songwriter Oh Land (real name Nanna Øland Fabricius) with White Nights, this visually amazing video with a brilliant song to match.
Originally a ballet dancer, she has been making waves in the music business since the release of her second self titled album.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! I just set this blog up today, along with a few of my schoolmates, and therefore I'm very new to the blogosphere. PLEASE bear with me as I try to figure out how to actually work this thing!
As you may have guessed from the above comment I'm not the most computer savvy. Hopefully everything will be running smoothly once I get the hang of this (but I make no promises).
I will probably be posting mostly about fashion and art, a little music, and will include any other interesting facts or tidbits of information I find.
I hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy posting on it!
Have fun =D
